Mr. Syed Farizal Aminy bin Syed Mohamad was appointed as the Consul General of Malaysia to Shanghai in April 2021. Prior to the appointment, he was assigned to several departments throughout his stint at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia, namely; the Office of the Foreign Minister, East Asia Division, Protocol Department, Africa and South Sahara Division and Malaysia National Secretariat of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM). His previous overseas assignments include as Counsellor at the Embassy of Malaysia, Tokyo, Japan; and First Secretary (Embassy of Malaysia, Phnom Penh, Cambodia). Before joining the Ministry, he worked at the National Panasonic Malaysia from 1995 to 2004.
Mr. Syed Farizal Aminy bin Syed Mohamad graduated from Okayama University, Japan with a Bachelor degree in Economics, and obtained his MBA in East Asian Studies from the National University of Malaysia (UKM).

Datuk Iskandar is the Deputy Director General of Labuan Financial Services Authority (Labuan FSA). He is currently serving as the Executive Chairman cum CEO of Labuan IBFC Inc. for a two-year term effective 1 February 2022.

He commenced his career in Bank Negara Malaysia and was seconded to Labuan FSA in 1996. Cumulatively, Datuk Iskandar has over 30 years of experience serving in financial services regulatory and supervisory agencies.

He brings to his current role a wealth of related knowledge and experience and leads a dedicated and professional team in Labuan IBFC Inc. that is focused on driving strategic business initiatives to further develop Labuan IBFC.

The appointment of Datuk Iskandar reflects the continuous commitment of Labuan FSA and the Government to position Labuan IBFC as a thriving business and financial centre under the next phase of its development.

Hasri is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at The Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (“NCIA”). The NCIA is a body corporate, incorporated under the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority Act 2008 (Act 687), responsible for strategic socioeconomic development of the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER) – a government initiative to accelerate economic growth and elevate income levels in the north of Peninsular Malaysia encompassing the states of Kedah, Perak, Perlis and Pulau Pinang.

In his current role, Hasri is responsible in operations, corporate advisory & strategic planning matters, which include the development of strategies to facilitate the delivery of NCER outcomes, as well as the review of new opportunities and initiatives that add value to the socioeconomic development in the region. Hasri has led numerous strategic initiatives for NCIA, include NCER Strategic Development Plan 2021-2025, as well as the development of NCIA’s transformation plan to strengthen NCIA’s positioning, role, operating model and focus going forward.

Prior to joining NCIA in 2014, Hasri spent 5 years in AirAsia Berhad as the Head of Performance Improvement where he led a team of regional consultants to deploy the Continuous Improvement Program at AirAsia Group. Before joining AirAsia, Hasri was a Manager in Ernst & Young Advisory Services (EY) in Kuala Lumpur and has led many corporate advisory engagements in Corporate Strategy, Program Management & Implementation and Process Improvement.

Hasri holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Western Australia, Perth, Australia.

Mr Yap is the Chairman of MayCham Shanghai and the Chief Operating Officer, Greater China with MAYBANK (Malayan Banking Berhad). Prior to this, he was GM of the Shanghai Branch.

Mr Yap started the wholesale banking in China via the set-up of MAYBANK Shanghai Branch and before further expansion to Beijing, Kunming and Shenzhen serving 4 key economic zones of China.

Mr. Steven Cheng joined the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) in 2007. During his tenure at MIDA, he had served at various capacities starting from promotion division (Europe & Asia Oceania) and 3 years stint (2013 – 2015) as deputy director at MIDA Dubai, UAE.

This was followed by promotion and marketing function attached to the Foreign Investment Promotion Division covering ASEAN region (2016), China (2017 – 2018) and USA (until August 2019).

Posted to Shanghai, P.R.China in August 2019 and currently covering 11 Provinces - middle of P.R.China, from Shanghai up to Qinghai with a mission to promote investment into Malaysia.

Damian has been working with MATRADE, the National Trade Promotion Agency of Malaysia for the past 15 years. He is currently the Trade Consul in the Consulate General of Malaysia in Shanghai.

His current role includes promoting the economic interests of Malaysia in China and assist Malaysian companies to sell their products and services in China by connecting them with potential buyers, distributors as well as investors. His other roles include providing market insights and sentiments, developing tailor made market access programmes as well as export advisory services for Malaysian companies.

He has also served as the Trade Consul in the Consulate of Malaysia in Milan, Italy from 2014 to 2018 and has experience in overseeing special projects handled by MATRADE when he was in the Special Projects Unit of MATRADE.

20+ years of aircraft design experience especially in China, Australia, and Europe. 15 years as VP/senior manager focus on aircraft design and manufacturing, project management, and supply chain development.

Previously Vice GM for Geely Terrafugia in-charge of the entire China operations, primarily developing a two-seater eVTOL aircraft called TF-2A, and over-seeing the construction of a 26.6 hectares aircraft composite manufacturing plant in Wuhan, China.

10 years with commercial aircraft manufacturer Airbus. By 2014 as Head of Engineering for Airbus China leading the Chinese Airbus Engineering Centre for developing the wide-body commercial aircraft A350 control surfaces and high-lift devices. Also appointed by European Aviation Safety Authority (EASA) as Delegated Authority under EASA Part 21:J:DOA.

10 years in Australia. Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering 1st class honour with RMIT University, MBA with University of Western Australia. 5 years with Aeronautical Engineers Australia primarily working on GA aircraft and helicopter modifications.
